It has been far too long.
So today, I want to talk about the Spring and makeup. I love when the weather changes. I love to transition into bright colors for the nice weather. Ohio is so dreary all winter and I find myself vamping it up almost everyday. I decided to do a spring look for you guys.
Sidenote: Soon I will be posting video tutorials, just have to invest in a great camera! Any suggestions please comment them below the article.
Okay, so lets talk details about this look.
Prep: Before we get into makeup we have to talk about prepping the face. I always wash my face with Origins Checks and Balances face wash, then I follow up with the Ginzing moisturizer. I have oily skin as the day progresses and I like these products because it helps to prevent some of the oil. I followed up with a primer. I am a firm believer in priming your face before you apply makeup. Its lasts longer and applies better/easier. This day I used Hard Candy Sheer Envy Shine-Free Primer all over my face and Urban Decay Original Eyeshadow Primer Potion on my eyelids. Let this set for a few minutes before applying makeup.
EYES: I always do my brows and eyes first. They take the longest and I usually have to do some cleaning up so I wait for foundation. For my brows I used Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz in dark brown to fill in my brows, I then followed up with a little NYX brow gel in Espresso (using a small angled brush) toward the ends of my brows to make them a little darker and more defined looking. I don’t like the “Instagram Brow” meaning the super square at the beginning and faded out then highlighted brow. It’s so obviously fake to me. However brows are important, they frame the face. So, I do appreciate a nice structured brow I just like to keep mine a little more natural. I cleaned my brows with my foundation (I am not fancy I use a Q-tip). I seriously do not like my brows being highlighted. I don’t get why they should be, lol. For the eyes I started with the NYX jumbo eye pencil in Milk. I cover my lids and crease with it so that way the colors I use show up better. A lot of times shadows blend in to brown skin tones and you don’t get the full effect. Then I used the Urban Decay shadow box and chose the color Freelove for my lid. It’s a really pretty golden peach shimmer and is very pigmented. I used MAC Saddle eyeshadow in the crease and MAC Arena on my brow bone and a little under the brow and to blend out. For my liner I used Tarte Lights Camera Lashes on my inner top lash line and my water line along the bottom of my eye, then Kat Von D tattoo liquid eyeliner in Trooper to do the winged cat eye. I followed up with Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara (sidenote- I love lashes but I don’t wear them).
FACE: For my face, I started out with Maybelline Fit Me foundation in Toffee. I love that this foundation is easily accessible and affordable and it stays matte all day long. It looks and feels like a high-end foundation. Afterwards I used the Maybelline Master Fix setting powder all over to set my foundation. For my subtle contour, I used the Black Radiance Contour Palette in Light to Medium. I used the two darker colors to contour and sculpt as the packaging suggests but I didn’t pack it on too dark because I really wasn’t in the mood for a dramatic contour and eye lol. Then, I used the highlight color on the upper part of my cheek bones, the bridge and tip of my nose, a little on the center of my forehead and my chin. I just wanted to look sun-kissed. I love this kit because it’s great for beginners, and super affordable, plus, the color pay off is amazing. I finished with a little Nars blush in Gina on the apples of my cheeks.
SET: I use one and only one setting spray — Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. It is the bomb.com. That stuff is Holy Grail!
I hope you like the look. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask in the questions!!!!!!!!
