Appreciate A Black Man Day

MAN OF THE MONTH: NICHOLAS BAILEY

Nicholas Bailey, native of Suffolk, Virginia, has made it his mission to help underserved populations, decrease stigma and promote change within the community. Growing up he would hate to see those affected by low socioeconomic status and extreme poverty constantly without the daily essentials (clean clothes, toothbrush, deodorant, soap and etc) of everyday life. He wanted to make individuals were receiving viable necessities year round, not just around the holidays. And he wanted to rid the stigma that giving back is tedious, but can actually be fun and beneficial for both parties.

After years of putting in hard work, this year Nicholas was able to found the company MAKE CARING COOL! The mission of the company is to inspire others to give back any and every way. And to also show that giving back is exciting and possible. A goal of his is to create a database of resources that people in dire need can use in terms of shelter, clothing, health needs and etc.

So far this company has made excellent strides along the way. During thanksgiving last year, 6, 18-gallon containers of winter clothes were donated to those in need. Secondly, last Christmas, $1,000 worth of toys was donated to families in need. Nicholas graciously opened up his own home a week before Christmas, so families could have the opportunity to open gifts. Thirdly, the company was able to send 1,500-1,600 gallons of water to Flint, Michigan to help those suffering from the awful water conditions. And he continues to receive constant donations of clothes, personal items and toys.
