Every once in a while MAC cosmetics teams up with well-known celebrities to put together a collection. Usually it’s a part of the Viva Glam collection and the proceeds go to the MAC AIDS campaign. Recently, MAC announced a collaboration with four young women of color in the music industry and dubbed it their Future Forward collection. As you can imagine I was super excited about this.
The main reason I got excited is because rather than go with big name celebrities, MAC took a chance and collaborated with budding artists who may not be as well known. Tinashe, Halsey, Dej Loaf and Lion Babe were announced to all have a product in the line which they personally helped develop. They got involved on everything from colors, to finishes and to packaging.
The first piece from the collection is an eyeshadow palette designed by singer Tinashe. Of course I ordered it online the day it came out. I am in love with it. There are matte, satin, and frost finishes along with neutral and dark night shades. Tinashe even got to name some of the colors like a beautiful light green shimmer titled “All Hands on Deck” after a song on her Aquarius album. I like the palette because I think it works for all skin tones and there are plenty of looks that can be created with the palette. Priced at $32.00 it won’t break the bank so you don’t have to feel to bad about giving in to the makeup gods and going slightly off budget.
