MMR! HOSTS ITS FIRST EVENT – BRUNCH & BANTER

Hello MMR! Readers!

I am so excited to spill the beans on our first event! I was a great success! We ate (you can catch the menu in the gallery. I made the sangria and breakfast punches, they were both bomb!), did a cool icebreaker where our guests got to open up and get to know each other, watched the Op-Doc, Growing Up A Black Girl in America, and had an intense discussion about our own thoughts and feelings about the documentary and personal experiences.

The documentary covered several topics in its 30 minutes; everything from hair to police brutality. Our discussion was no different! We chatted about beauty standards, figuring out how to be yourself in your skin and of course, the hot topic of relationships. As you may already know, the entire discussion was recorded and will be broadcast on our YouTube channel: My Melanin Rocks! TV  as well as on Danielle Dominique’s (our beautiful videographer and creator of In Love There’s War) YouTube channel.

We would like to thank the folks that made our event amazing: Our caterers – Michele and Laurice; Our photographer – Marvin Williams; Videographer – Danielle Dominique; Our Host – O’Dasha Johnson; MMR! Staff – HerBrina, Mo, DeMario Rayvon, T. Simone, Jas, and Victoria – as well as our staff that were there in spirit – Brimo, Aieshia & Lina Min.

We would also like to thank each and every one of our guests that came to support! Your words, your stories, your transparency is sincerely appreciated.

To the two women that helped to spawn the B&B idea, creators of Growing Up A Black Girl…, Brea and Monique of ROS Productions: Thank you for telling our stories.

Peruse the gallery and check the Events page for our Brunch & Banter video!
